European Football's Governing Body Opens Disciplinary Investigation Concerning Pedro Neto After Incident Involving Paris St-Germain Ball Boy.
UEFA has commenced a disciplinary case against Chelsea's the Portuguese international after he pushed over a young stadium attendant in a Champions League defeat by PSG.
The 26-year-old, Neto, shoved the attendant in stoppage time of the last-16 first leg in Paris – where Chelsea lost 5-2 – which caused the boy to fall off his seat.
It sparked a confrontation between the opposing squads.
Officials stated proceedings have been instigated against Neto for "unsporting behaviour" under UEFA's code.
"Disciplinary officials will take a decision on this case at a later date," European football's governing body added in its statement.
Neto said sorry after the match attributing it to getting swept up "in the emotion of the game" as he tried to get back the ball.
"That is not who I am. Emotions were running high and I want to apologise. I offered him my jersey as a gesture. I'm really sorry about it - I feel I have to apologise to him," Neto explained to the media.
"My French is not very good, and [Portugal team-mate] Vitinha intervened and said to him that it was a momentary lapse.
"Finally he saw the funny side and I presented him with my jersey and said sorry many times. He could see it was a mistake and was satisfied with how it was resolved."
The London club welcome Paris St-Germain in the upcoming second leg for the return fixture, after a match against Newcastle to Stamford Bridge this weekend in the Premier League.
